Project Description: In my Topics in Graphic Design course, we were asked to choose a political or social issue that would be our focus for the whole semester. I chose Prison Reform because my minor is in Criminology, and I have become aware of how the justice system needs to change. Prison Reform is the attempt to improve conditions inside prisons, improve the effectiveness of a penal system, or implement alternatives to incarceration. The United States is currently the world’s leader in incarceration with North Carolina having the 31st-highest State incarceration rate. In this project, I was assigned to make a series of kiosk ads about my topic in Prison Reform. With research from The Sentencing Project and The Marshall Project, I was able to make this Kiosk ad series publicizing the ways in which the Prison System needs to be reformed.
